Photo Shoot – Greenwich and Canary Wharf

On Thursday we had a Tetbury Camera Club outing to London primarily for some night photography at Canary Wharf.

On the way we detoured via Greenwich to look at the Astronomy Photographer of the Year exhibition at the Royal Observatory – it did not disappoint. There were some stunning images on display, some taken with quite modest equipment, all with great dedication, and a few requiring the accumulation of numerous images over several years!

After that, we did photography around the Greenwich, then walked through the Thames Pedestrian Tunnel, paused at Island gardens for some shots of Greenwich in the dying light (and rain). Then on up the Isle of Dogs via the Millwall Docks to Canary Wharf and Pizza, stopping regularly to put up the tripods and shoot. After refreshment there was time for a final 30 minutes of photography before taking the Jubilee Line back to Victoria and home.

It was a great day out – great company as usual, and hopefully some good images to come out of it.

Dodecapod – the DLR station at Heron Quays – like something out of a Sci Fi movie! This is an HDR image from 9 shots at 2/3 EV increments processed in Photomatix Detail Enhancer, and then taken into Topaz Adjust for some final enhancement of detail.

What’s it all about?

Here are my jottings about my photographic projects and activities. I have been working on a focus stacking macro photography rig. There are quite a few posts about that. In addition I write about other photographic activities as and when!
